Scaffolded Lesson for Synchronous Online Learning
This instructor-led online lesson was designed for a middle school English Language Arts curriculum in a virtual academy setting. I designed the lesson sequence to build student understanding in stages, moving from guided instruction and discussion to peer collaboration, independent practice, and a short comprehension check.
Nearpod was used to support the instructional design with interactive activities placed intentionally throughout the lesson. These features helped students engage with key concepts, practice new skills, check their understanding, and participate in real time.
The lesson was scaffolded so students could build confidence as they moved from initial exposure to increasingly complex tasks. Each activity was selected to support a specific learning purpose, including activating prior knowledge, encouraging peer-to-peer learning, reinforcing comprehension, and gathering formative assessment data.
